A Haunting originally began as two feature-length specials, A Haunting in Connecticut. A haunting is a kind of recording of a past event on an environment, such as a house, building or a battlefield. These recordings play back, over and over in a kind of loop - always the same, like a film or video. It is thought that the presence of certain people can trigger these recordings to play back. They are not ghosts capable of interacting with the living. It is not known how these recordings are made, but they are often associated with a traumatic or strongly emotional event.

It seems to me that you are describing 'The Stone Tape Theory'... where certain conditions trigger a replay... the actions seen are repeated exactly each time and there is never interaction.. I have not seen the actual program. But these replays are quite a common phenomena.
Some of our Chiefs believe the land belongs to them...
But that is not what The Great Spirit told me... He said No one owns the land, that the land belongs to him. We are just keepers of the land, for our children and for their childrens childen.

A Haunting is an American show that has spawned two theatrical movies. It was on television a few years and then removed, but was brought back again.

I personally enjoy the show. It is supposedly based on true stories, but, after watching a few episodes, you'll realize it is best approached as just stories.

You can read about it here:
