Getting back on track, I do believe one should be careful in our beliefs. A lot of supposedly paranormal events are debunked as being natural occurrences, but I also believe there really is something out there. Unfortunately there's not enough proof and evidence to prove it.

For some people, Bone, there will never be enough evidence to convince them. If a spirit materialised in front of them and shouted "Boo" in their ear, then disappeared.....................they would think their eyes and ears were playing tricks on them rather than consider the alternative. :)

I agree with you that a lot of supposed paranormal occurrences can and do have rational explanations. I would hope that most people would consider all possible explanations before coming to a paranormal conclusion.

I was talking to one of my other online friends like two weeks ago. He's an extreme skeptic (so obviously he tried to debunk everything "paranormal"). It's good to always try to debunk things and not rationalize everything as paranormal, but -- obviously -- using this he kept insisting that maybe those "spirits" are just made up by us. (Probably far from what he meant since I can't really word it per what he said by memory, but anyway...) I still feel that there's just something that... some instinct that us believers have that pure skeptics don't have.

Maybe they just don't like to think about too many things? I've always wondered...

I think we should be careful about calling anything ''paranormal,'' as that term was only invented a hundred or so years ago by spiritualists, who where trying to blend ancient beliefs in ghosts and
demons with modern science. For example Marconi invented the radio not so that we could listen to pop music but as means of contacting the dead. As time wore on scientific study has given us a better understanding of how the forces of nature work but it has not given us a means of talking with the dead,.
What we call sceptics (another misnomer) are actually what we used to call ''doubting-Thomases'' (in other words, people who won't believe anything unless it smacks them on the head!)
They are not a spiritual or political group - just ''doubters.''
I for one am not going to believe something just for the sake of it, nor am I going to wait for it to smack me on the head! I am going to study it and if I can't find an explanation I will
put it down to ''Unexplained.''

Awww, it is up to the person as to what they choose to believe, about anything, real or imagined,. As I think William will be a great king, nothing like his g.mother, who could be, and better than his father.I believe in Santa, define "him" as you might, :hyper: the "virgin birth", and no, I'm not Catholic, flying saucers, ghosts, of course, spouses being faithful to each other, before and after death :( , dogs can see "ghosts", etc., etc., etc.
